Summary of position

We are a premier domiciliary care provider across West Sussex and Hampshire. We are committed to making a profound impact on our community by delivering exceptional care and support to those in need. In addition, we extend our services by providing skilled agency workers to residential homes in these regions.

We are currently seeking an experienced and dynamic Head of Finance to collaborate closely with our business owner, driving our finance department and contributing to our company’s overall financial strategy. As the Head of Finance, you will be responsible for creating and managing budgets, ensuring the current health, stability, and growth of our business though acquisition.

You will lead a small finance/commercial team and be responsible for transactional finance, client business partnering agreements, statutory reporting, financial business planning and analysis with a focus on staff development and implementing a culture of continual improvement, whilst providing insightful management information to steer commercial decision making.

You will ensure the Group’s cash balances and cashflow forecasting is managed effectively, that employees are remunerated effectively and oversee the production of the annual financial statements, leading the audit process and building a good relationship with the external auditors.

The business will continue to grow through expanding its range of services and client bases as well as bolt on acquisitions. The successful candidate should focus on the existing business and organic growth, whilst being able to support any potential acquisition process and post-acquisition integration.


Job Description

Primary Responsibilities

  • Leadership of the finance team, including effective development training, retention, and recruitment.
  • Ensure the timely and accurate provision of monthly management accounts, annual business plans, quarterly forecasts, and reviews of financial performance and cashflows.
  • Implement strong and effective financial management systems appropriate for a multiple company group.
  • Provide financial insight and analysis to support strategic decision making.
  • Lead an agenda of continuous improvement utilising technology to drive world class financial reporting controls and analysis.
  • Present financial results and communicate business performance at monthly management meetings.
  • Partner with senior leadership team and Business Owner to identify new products, services and revenue opportunities.
  • Complete the preparation of accounts, documents for year-end financial statements and completion of the annual external audit.
  • Responsibility for the preparation and review of VAT submissions, Payroll, bank reconciliations and credit control

Personal Specifications

We’d like you to…

  • Hold a professional accounting qualification such as CIMA or ACCA.
  • Potentially hold a relevant leadership or management qualification.
  • Have proven experience of delivering financial management systems and annual financial accounts.
  • Ideally have an understanding of the private health care sector and having worked with a service sector business.
  • Have experience of providing confident and clear leadership whilst motivating, encouraging, and challenging your team to take ownership of their work and go the extra mile.
  • Have effective communication and negotiating skills.
